Luis Rivas slammed a homerun as the London Hawk Lords defeated the ice-cold
Burbank Tigers 6 to 2 at the ballpark.
London took the lead for good in the bottom of the 3rd inning scoring 2 runs
on 3 hits. Johnny Damon started the inning off right when he lined a
one-base hit. Rivas stepped into the batter's box and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt. Mark Kotsay then stroked a single resulting in a run. Ivan
Rodriguez was up next and he banged out a single. Wily Mo Pena stepped into
the box and reached on an error scoring the final run of the inning. London
and Burbank each finished the afternoon with 7 hits.
The victory was credited to Jeff Weaver(5-13) who went 6 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 2 runs. Barry Zito(5-8) was the losing pitcher. He pitched 6
innings allowing 6 hits and 4 walks.
